Every Christmas in Finland the legendary animated film “The Snowman” (1982) is shown on TV. It is a film adaptation of the children’s book with the same name by Raymond Briggs (1978). One of the cartoon’s most powerfull musical themes is “Walking in the Air”, for which Howard Blake wrote the lyrics. The song turned out to be so loaded of emotions that it resonated with millions of fans around the world. It was recorded many times, until Tarja from our favorite Nightwish covered it in due time.
