In mid-January, I was invited to the international exhibition Matka Nordic Travel Fair 2020, which was held in Helsinki. The event is the largest and most popular in Scandinavia, andI see no point in advertising it, I will focus only on personal impressions and thoughts.

I am not a fan of this format, but it is difficult to imagine a better place to search for new travel ideas in Finland, and, accordingly, my future Finnish stories.

Initially, I imagined this fair as a closed “club” of regional travel companies in Suomi and neighboring countries, but Matka 2020 brought a lot of pleasant surprises.

The event was attended by a huge number of companies, most of which came from Europe, Asia and Africa.

For a few days, Helsingin Messukeskus turned into an incredible international crowd, attended by tens of thousands of people.
Yes, it took some time for the acquaintances, this is what PRO-days exist for, but then everything merged into an amazing, cheerful and, importantly, positive holiday for guests and participants of Matka 2020. Concerts, presentations, sweepstakes prizes, workshops – it was not boring. And most important was that there was an opportunity to communicate with people who came to Helsinki from all over the world. Yes, in Age of the Internet, the opportunity to chat is not feeling as something extraordinary, but personal communication and emotions are worth a lot. We are all so different – language, appearance, culture, but events like Matka Travel Fair show that we have a chance to come to an agreement and be interesting to each other 🙂
