At the beginning of May I planned a trip to National Park Kolovesi, where Finnish scientists discovered Vierunvuori rock paintings, which are estimated to be from 4000 to 6000 years old.
The majestic Saimaa met us with the sun and complete calm. Saimaa, by the way, is the largest lake in Finland and the fourth largest freshwater lake in Europe.
For understanding its size, can say that the length of the coastline of Saimaa is almost 15,000 kilometers – this is not a small pond in the nearest forest.
To “conquer” the water element, a suitable transportation was needed – which was a small boat with an outboard motor.
I must say that I am not a very experienced and reliable captain, and therefore, given the presence of a strictly defined fairway and the floodgates in Saimaa, I became a participant in small but memorable adventures … however, I will return to their description somehow … later.
Got used to the obstinate boat and the stalling engine, was made the fateful decision to go the next day for the searching of the rock paintings Vierunvuori …
